Chinese Teen Sells His Kidney For an iPad 2 (video)

Not enough money to get an iPad 2? You can sell your kidney for it, only if you are silly enough to do that. Here’s the story. A 17-year-old kid, named Zheng from China, wanted an original iPad 2 desperately, but he is poor. “Fortunately”, he met an organ buyer organization online and received a message from the organization telling him that if he were to sell his kidney, he could get 20,000 yuan (about $3,000) plus some bonus. So he traded his kidney for an iPad 2, and got an iPhone at the same time. He was happy, but now regrets it. News report after the break.

Zheng did not tell his parents that he is selling his kidney. He traveled to Chenzhou and he was guided by three middlemen to do a body checkup in a local hospital. Then, Zheng went ahead with the surgery and got out of the hospital three days after his surgery. Zheng received 22,000 yuan and went back home right away. However, Zheng was unable to keep surgery from his mother who notified police. They tried to get in contact with the perps but to no one’s surprise, has been unable to reach these evil guys. Later, reporters found the hospital where Zheng had the surgery, and interestingly, the hospital was not qualified to perform organ transplant. The hospital claimed they had no idea about Zheng’s surgery and the department that did the surgery had been contracted to a Fujian businessman. What’s more, they do not have professional facilities to perform a surgery like that.
So, Zheng failed to get his kidney back, and he will stay alive with his iPad 2 and iPhone.
